Duane ’s Story

Site created on November 15, 2023

On Sunday, November 12th, Dad wasn't feeling well and went to bed supper early. On Monday, he was experiencing stroke symptoms, and we took him to Lyons hospital. They did a CT and said he had a stroke and transported him to Wesley Medical Center.

Once we got there, they did another CT and took a ton of labs. the doctor there said he thought something else was going on. The CT showed 3 masses and a medium-sized- large sized aneurysm. Dad was admitted to the CCU floor. After a series of tests and multiple doctors consults, it was determined that Dad actually had 3 aneurysms, the largest being between 11-12 mm. this aneurysm is very dangerous and concerning due to size, appearance, and location. it is right behind Dad's left eye. Dad will need treatment for that once he gets an all-clear from the other things attacking his system.

Two of the brain masses were treated in 2020 with radiation. These have grown, but not a significant amount, and are considered stable at this time. The new mass they feel like needs to be monitored, so they will follow up with these in about six months.

Dad has since been diagnosed with pneumonia. covid, staph infection, and another infection not yet identified. He has been sent to a different floor, and then early morning November 25th placed on a cpap, and after increasing respiratory distress/ oxygen needs, he was transferred back to the CCU on bipap.
