Duane’s Story

Site created on September 9, 2020

The family would like to update everyone on Duane’s condition. After spending a few weeks suffering from confusion and vision problems, he was admitted to KU hospital on Wednesday September 2. They have a working diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease which there is no cure. We realize it’s very rare but they have tested and continue to test to leave no stone left unturned in hopes to discover something that is treatable. The hospital staff has been very supportive of him and the entire family. We will use CaringBridge to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Please feel free to leave comments, memories, and pictures.

As many are aware Duane and Debbie have been full time foster parents for a few years now, but for the foreseeable future that journey unfortunately needs to be paused as Duane will need full time care.

We have set up a GoFundMe to help provide Debbie with the financial support needed to move forward. If able please consider donating through this sharable link https://gf.me/u/yxzf5d or by clicking on Ways to help > view GoFundMe campaign.

It looks like the Tribute section on CaringBridge donates directly to CB instead of the family. We appreciate if you are able to contribute directly to the GoFundMe.

We're deeply grateful for your continued prayers and any assistance you can provide.

Duane's always loved telling stories so he started up a blog in January 2020 called The Life of Rooster (https://roosterslife.blog/). He'd love if you gave it a look (he tried to downplay it, but he definitely got excited the more clicks and views the posts got).
