Journal

I wanted to post an update, especially with the COVID- 19 virus pandemic happening around the globe.

Lynne is hanging in. Daughter Lisa stayed through March 9th. Son-in-law Greg came for 9 days, the sons all stayed for a week. Dan and I dove in along side everyone and we helped clear a lot of stuff out of the garage and house.

I have been going over every other day and helping her look through things and slowly pack what she wants to keep. We have been socially/physically isolating since before it was cool. However, it is now going to be the law of the land. As of Monday Oregon is practicing "Stay Home, Stay Safe." They are not using the term "Shelter in Place" for 2 reasons. One, you are allowed to leave for walks, doggie breaks and important business. Secondly, that is a term that is taught to teachers and kids regarding school shootings and as such is not a good term to use. It means a very different thing to our children unfortunately, and can make things even scarier than they are already. :( So devastating that this is the reality these days.

So far with the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order, we are interpreting this to mean that we can keep doing as we have been doing. Mom at home and me visiting every other day. We will keep doing this until we are told otherwise. If a lock down happens, we are preparing that she will come stay with Dan and I. I will send another update it it come to that.

Luckily, the weather has been fabulous this past week (the whole winter actually, compared to the normal constant rain). We've had 60 and sunny, yesterday near 70. Lynne has been driving a short distance to the edge of the neighborhood and a mixed use path called the Springwater Trail that connects to the city park. It used to be a railroad track, but has been a trail since right around when we moved here almost 30 years ago. So we/she has been able to enjoy some time outside in the sun, before the rains are back on Monday.

She also has amazing neighbors who have been calling and texting to check in. She's even had some groceries delivered by them to supplement what I have brought over. I have swapped numbers with them and thus we are able to stay in touch. This makes us all feel immensely better in these times we find ourselves in.

We suggest that everyone else "Stay Home & Stay Safe" too. Thank you for the continued love and support.

Love,

Andrea
