Drew’s Story

Site created on December 22, 2023

Thank you for all the love and prayers for Drew since he fell at work on December 19th and suffered a traumatic brain injury. We wanted to have a place to share updates and prayer requests. He is currently at the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation hospital in Grand Rapids after spending over two weeks in the ICU and five days in a recovery room. He is beginning the long road of healing at this specialized facility and we are praising God for His faithfulness each day. Drew is an incredible mixture of tough and tender - he is the life of every party and the force  behind all the fun. He loves hard and fights hard and we are encouraged to see him fighting as we pray for full and complete healing from our great and powerful God.
"Lord, my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. " Psalms 30:2
"Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." Jeremiah 17:14

From Johanna: I met Drew when I was 17 years old and have loved him every day since. To know him, is to love him, and you will most likely have a good story too! We have been blessed to have brought five kids into this world together. Drew is an adventurous and fun dad and loving and kind husband. Please continue to pray for his full healing. We appreciate all the love and support and especially prayer from our incredible family, friends and community.

This was set up by Johanna’s friend, Mandy, for local folks to bring meals, but also has a place to financially give to provide a meal and other needs.

A message from Drew and Jo:

Since moving back home we both have been able to take a deep breath and begin to process the journey that God has led our family on over the last few months.

We are deeply moved by the outpouring of prayers, love, and support through these difficult times.  So many people have shown up for both of us in the most powerful of ways.

The unbelievable acts of kindness, from the endless meals that have fed our family to the countless messages of encouragement that have come through at all hours and everything in between, thank you!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our families and close friends who tirelessly cared for our kids at home and sat with me and Drew in the hospital.

We are forever grateful to the medical team of doctors, nurses, techs, therapists and all who expertly navigated Drew's recovery and in the process, not only saved Drew's life, but have become a loved and endearing part of our cherished community.

Thank you to all of you that have followed along here through Erin’s gracious posts, praying continually, the prayers have been felt.

Thank you to our town and neighbors who came together to throw a beautiful event benefiting our family.

We are humbled by all the ways God continues to lovingly show up and light our way.  We are so thankful for his continued healing.

Much Love,
Drew and Jo
