Journal entry by Angie Smith —
Drew had an appointment with infectious disease and orthopedics today. Everything is looking good. He’s still taking an antibiotic for the infection in his ankle but the wound is closing up nicely. I had no idea it would take this long. This is still the infection that he was hospitalized for back in November.
His humerus is healing nicely. The last time we met with Dr. Wall, she mentioned the possibility of a bone graft. It didn’t come up at all during this appointment. Dr. Wall seemed pretty happy with his progress. We are still packing the hole in his ankle every night and changing the dressing on his arm every few days. I feel like it won’t be much longer before he can go without dressing but I don’t know since I’m not an expert.
We go back in two weeks. He will see infectious disease and Dr. Brogan (the doc who did the skin grafts).
