Drew’s Story

Site created on May 5, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. It is clear that Drew is loved by many; the sheer number of texts and phone calls are proof! Unfortunately, we are struggling to keep up with all the messages so have chosen to create this site.  Please know that we are so thankful for the love, support, and prayers we have received in the last 48 hours. They mean more than you will ever know.

Journal entry by Karen Mason

Today marks the beginning of week 4 that Drew has been home and he is making forward progress in the way of very small baby steps. He continues to meet with nurses and therapists throughout the week as well as outside doctor appointments but struggles with pretty extensive nerve pain in his left leg (the "good" one). This pain keeps him up at night and makes it difficult for him to stay positive at times. While Mike and I are incredibly entertaining, Drew really enjoys it when his friends visit; a few have even taken him out for lunch, ice cream, etc which he really appreciates. The walls of his room are starting to close in on him so any and all distractions are greatly appreciated. He is beginning to gain back some of the weight he lost during his 6 week stay in the hospital and hasn't met a food he doesn't like! Everyone who sees him comments on how he is starting to look like Drew again.

Thanks to all who have checked in, brought food, sent messages, etc. They mean the world.
