Doug’s Story

Site created on May 16, 2021

Welcome to our Caring Bridge page. We are thankful to have friends and family already praying for us. Although the following information has no known influence on Doug's current diagnosis, some of you may know that beginning approximately 4 years ago, Doug had several episodes of pancreatitis. After some time, a small procedure was done and the episodes ended. Fast forward to February 2020 and Doug was diagnosed with diabetes. Fast forward some more and approximately a week after Easter 2021 he began experiencing abdominal pain, along with a few other symptoms. These symptoms were similar to those associated with the previous pancreatitis. Doug contacted his primary care doctor asking for the test which would indicate pancreatitis. This test then came back normal proving no pancreatitis. After 10 days of no improvement, a CT scan was ordered, revealing a mass located on the pancreas. On May 11, 2021 Doug's primary care doctor gave him the diagnosis of probable pancreatic cancer. He was referred to a cancer doctor in OKC, and on May 13, 2021 he had the appointment. At this appointment Doug and Janifer were told to assume the mass was cancerous, although a biopsy would bring a definite diagnosis. The cancer doctor did a blood test/tumor marker and currently they are waiting for an appointment with the gastroenterologist. The understanding is this gastroenterologist will be the one to perform the biopsy. We thank you for your continued love and support.
