Doug’s Story

Site created on September 14, 2018

Hi everyone,

Allyson here, although I'm hoping some other family members will be writing as well. We have set up  this caring bridge page to keep everyone up to date on Doug's journey of beating his brain tumor. Here is a little back ground information for those of you new to his story.

On Monday, August 27 while in Los Angeles for work on his upcoming film production Doug had a seizure on the Fox Television campus. He was taken to UCLA where they did a MRI and discovered he has a large tumor in his front right lobe. It is a stage 2 glioma, and approximately the size of a lemon. My dad flew out to California to be with Doug and the very next day they took a red eye back to Richmond. The following Friday Doug was seen by the Doctors at MCV who confirmed the tumor and what the next steps would be.

Today, September 14 at approximately 9am they started surgery. For those of you who pray, please send all your prayers his way! Doug has been in incredible spirits this whole time and is truly and unwaveringly confident that he is going to beat this.  I will be updating this page as things progress, but for now send positive thoughts and prayers to Doug, my family, and his wife Morgane and their wonderful baby boy Julian.

Journal entry by Allyson Catoe

Hi friends,

As many of you already know Doug passed on December 29 surrounded by love and in peace. We all felt fortunate to have a few more weeks with him and enjoyed  quality time of talking, laughing, and eating some of his favorite foods. He is missed beyond words and we are all trying our best to heal.

There is going to be an immediate family only Memorial Service tomorrow and once Covid is at bay have plans for a Celebration of Life event that Doug very specifically wanted.

I am going to add two more weeks of meals to my parents Meal Train to get them through a few weeks of grief. Be on the look out for his obituary in the days to come.

So much love and thanks,

Allyson
