Dorothy’s Story

Site created on August 18, 2021

Dorothy was in a terrible car crash Wednesday morning. After multiple surgeries the first two days she seems to be mostly stable and preparing for the long road to recovery. It is not yet clear what that road will look like, or when she will be able to go home. We will try to post daily updates here.

As of Friday morning she has not been allowed any visitors other than Mike. Due to Covid precautions, it is not known if or when other visitors will be allowed, but in any case it will be on a very limited basis. As she regains awareness, she would love to hear uplifting words of encouragement, especially video messages posted to her Facebook, or sent directly via text.

She is very fortunate. It is by His grace alone that she is here with us. Thank you all for your continued prayers, love, and encouragement.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jonathan_Sarah Leverett

Dorothy had successful surgery today to treat multiple fractures in her leg and foot. She is in a splint now, but will have a cast later. No additional surgery is anticipated at this time.

She is off oxygen now, and on lots of pain medications. She has not been able to eat yet as of last update from Mike. It is not certain yet how long she will have to stay in. There is PT scheduled for tomorrow, and will probably continue for some time.

She is not yet able to have any visitors other than Mike. We do not yet know if or when she will be able to have others. Access is being tightly restricted due to the COVID situation.

Thank you all for your continued prayers, love, and support.
