Journal

On June 15, I began a Phase 1 clinical trial at MD Anderson with a drug that is a third generation BRAF inhibitor.  I tried the first generation BRAF inhibitor earlier this year without success.  June 15 was a LONG day-14 hours of monitoring blood and EKG’s.  June 16 was a much shorter day blood test, an EKG, and administered the drug.  June 17 began with an EKG and blood tests.  The EKG showed some change.  After a review by the clinical trial doctor, her nurse practitioner and a cardiologist, it was determined that I could continue with the trial.  After the June 18 doctor visit, we flew back home.  It felt so good to be home😊.

Sunday night Steve and I took a walk and not sure what happened; but I walked with one shoulder drooping down-it felt like one leg was 4 inches shorter than the other leg.  Long story short, my personal nurse, Maria, did some stroke tests and I was able to successfully complete them.  However, she encouraged me to see a local doctor-of course, I didn’t listen 😂.  This morning I could walk properly and the shoulder was no longer drooping.  Maria wanted me to call MD Anderson before taking the trial drugs.  I followed this advice and called MD Anderson. MD Anderson wanted me to see a local doctor.  Steve and I went to Theda Care’s Neenah ER.  The EKG, vital stats and the CT scan all were “normal”.  So they sent me home. In the meantime, MD Anderson called in two prescriptions for rashes on my face as well as throughout my midsection.  I’m feeling pretty good now😊.

Thank you for all your prayers-they really do work! 🙏

Much love ❤️ to all of you!!
