Journal entry by Alden Smith —
We come to you today to let you know that Dorian was not able to receive the second chemo treatment as scheduled. This was due to her platelet count being too low. We were told that this is not unusual, but we had expected such an experience further down the treatment journey. Though somewhat disappointed, we are not discouraged. We will wait for the next blood test next Tuesday (5/07) to see if things have improved such that she would receive the next treatment on Thursday (5/09). We so appreciate your prayers towards the treatment that we did not get to have today, and ask for your continuing prayers that she may have one next Thursday.
We take this opportunity to continue to thank you all for reaching out in encouragement through cards in the mail, a text, God’s Word through a song you send, or a devotion, even a meal being provided. You are being used by God to encourage us and keep our eyes on Jesus. Our hearts rejoice in you. We cannot do this alone. God knows every detail of what we are experiencing, and He shines through you all…to us. Some days are harder than others, fear creeps in, but in just the right time God reaches down to lift us up. Thank you for being you and having hearts of compassion. We cherish your friendship.
Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you. I will help you.
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
