Journal entry by Samantha Schmidt

Good Evening,

Dad had an appointment today to get lab work done before chemo tomorrow. They also gave him a liter of fluids. He was dehydrated and hasn’t been eating much either.

A nurse from Dr. Anderes’ office called this evening to say that Dad’s lab work did not meet the parameters for him to receive chemo tomorrow. So now the plan is for Dad to go to Kalispell tomorrow morning to get an infusion of platelets. (Blood cell transfusion)

Dad is also going to be getting IV fluids twice a week now. He just keeps getting weaker and hasn’t even been able to walk with a walker for the last few days. Hopefully the platelets and fluid can help Dad start feeling a bit better. The good thing is that he has not really been having pain.

We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support from our friends and family. The meals just keep coming in, a nice amount of yard work got done last Saturday, and beautiful bouquets of flowers are cheering up the house.

We are thankful that Uncle Tom (Dad’s brother) arrived this evening from Rapid City, SD.  He will go along with Mom to Dad’s appointment tomorrow morning.  The appointment is at 9:15am which means an early start, leaving at 7:30.

Keep praying.
With love from the Woods
