Don’s Story

Site created on June 3, 2019

At the end of May 2019, Don found out he has cancer in his abdomen, rib and liver. After many tests and several doctors it has been determined that he has stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to several parts of his body’s. He is working with a great team of doctors at UCSF who are the Colon Cancer gurus. Stage 4 cancer seems really scary, but we have read countless stories of people who kick its butt and outlive any predictions. So this is how we plan to attack this beast. Please continue to send them love and well wishes in anyway you want, but for updates this site will be the best place for information. As much as possible, Don will continue to keep up his normal daily routine as this will help him fight this tooth and nail. Once treatment starts we will post ways that you can help Don and Kathy if they need it.

In Memoriam on the Yahrzeit of my beloved husband Don
Where has the time gone? How can it be a year since Don left us.
He was truly a one-of-a-kind kind a guy. He loved his family and friends and family the community in which he lived. He livened up lived up a room when he entered flashing his beautiful smile. He combined being a loving husband, a fabulous Dad, a compassionate caretaker of your family. a constant jokester …..and yes,  bit of a control freak.  I was always impressed by your modesty about how brilliant you were. You had a special gusto for enjoying life, exotic and exciting travel, creating special memories with family and friends, great food and of course your “baby” MZB sports car!
As each a day goes by, I have this feeling I should be able to walk in the room and see your handsome face. There are so many things I experience I  know you would love to be doing with me. Your daughter Tracy’s eyes light up whatever she thinks about you and and with a Big grin on her face, about what you would “suggest” you would do as a response to a situation. As our  family always does we will be looking for a rainbow today knowing it is a message from you. As I look out from my townhouse in Truckee, I see this beautiful golf course and think how much you would love to play it with Aaron. I mention your name often when I tell our grandsons Jordan and Alex wonderful things about you they don’t know. Our sons, Mike and Finn, who just celebrated their Wedding Anniversary are living the life in St. Petersburg, Florida and I often bring up your name when talking to them.
We all miss you and love you

“Don it is said losing you will get easier with time…it’s just not true
For loving you has no end and no beginning
Loving you is everything
Infinite in time and limitless in magnitude
It is beyond my own comprehension”
You will always be alive in my heart
