Journal entry by Julie Kantarik —
Hi everyone. Donny’s surgery went well on Friday. His surgeon believes he was
able to remove all of the tumor in his heart, which was great news! Because of this, extensive reconstruction of his heart was needed. Donny is stable and in the ICU. His nurse turned off the medications that keep him sedated this morning and he opened his eyes, squeezed our hands, and smiled at me. We will be at Mayo a little longer than anticipated, but the care he is receiving at Mayo is the absolute best! It is honestly the best patient-centered care I have seen and I am so appreciative of his team.
His children, Jesse, Autumn, and Summer, as well as his Aunt Diane, have been here supporting him. Please continue to keep Donny, as well as his wonderful family, in your thoughts and prayers. I am keeping him updated on all of your messages! 🙏💕❤️
