Journal entry by Lisa May —
Mom had a follow up PET scan last week. Before she even returned home from the scan, the nurse called to tell her she is officially cancer free! The scan showed no sign of metastasis (spread of the cancer) and she is considered "free of disease". Today we met with the radiation oncologist for a follow up appointment. He confirmed the report and showed us the before and after scans. Not only is the cancer gone, but the tumor appears to have shrunk as well!
This is nothing short of a miracle! The best case scenario the doctors painted for her was that radiation might result in symptomatic relief and would hopefully slow the tumor's growth. Remission was never even discussed as a possibility. But God is good and by his grace mom is healed. She was blessed with an amazing team of doctors, nurses, and technicians. She always said she felt like they were her angles sent to heal her, and she was right.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Mom felt them and they really kept her going, and still do. Her doctors will continue to monitor her through periodic scans and scopes and we will continue to pray for good news.
