Don’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers and support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Don had acute pancreatitis in Nov 2016 with complications due to accidental perforation of his bile duct during one of the procedures. He got septic twice and  had to be in and out of procedures and surgeries.  The last surgery had the doctor just close up his stomach and the doctor said he does not like to operate on a dead person.  We took him home with 3 drains , TPN, 2 IVs for antibiotics , insulin  shots , etc.  By Gods mercy, with lots of prayers, his body healed.  Praise God! Even the doctors were amazed and considered him a miracle.  A few months later, he had to have another surgery for an incisional hernia since due to malnourishment, his surgery wounds didn't heal well.  On Aug 31st 2017,  Don went for his last surgery and they placed a mesh on his abdominal wall.
The last few months of this year, Don started getting more abdominal pain, lost weight  and had distention.  After a series of testing, we received the results of Don's last biopsy on May 21st. He tested positive for  metastatic pancreatic cancer that spread to his lungs already and is considered stage 4.  Surgery is not an option.  Appreciate prayers for Gods miraculous intervention, healing for his complete body even now as He did it the last time.  We know He is more than able to do it again.  We do believe God is going to finish the good work He started in Don.   For we know God is  good  and His mercies endure forever. Hallelujah!

1PSALMS 16: 15Precious in the sight of the LOrdis the death of his saints.

Don's health has been fully restored in the arms of His Lord! We had a great day with him yesterday. It was a miracle! See the pictures below. It was amazing. He got to go outside for lunch looking so cool by the pool! And then later in the afternoon, he asked for the loveseat to be placed outside. Theresa, my sister-in-love, took a picture of us "Lovebirds on the loveseat"! It was precious. He waited for Sarah and Jennah to come home around 11pm before he went to bed. He got to hear how the girls got settled in New York! Later that evening, he started having a hard time breathing. Hannah, Sarah and Uncle Tom (his brother) helped to get him to the hospital bed by his office. Hannah took his BP at 90/70.  Around 3:30 am we woke up the younger sisters , Jennah and Aleah , and each of the girls had a time with Dad to just talk to him and tell everything they needed to say to Dad. Around 5am Don told me to send them to bed. His breathing started getting normal and sleeping , I fell asleep getting ready to send our caringbridge update by his bed . I woke up at 7am, and he was gone! Just like that! But God answered all Dons request, to pass away peacefully at home and with all the girls. Thank you so much for your prayers! As you probably know, and if you still want to join us, I am still praying for the Lord to still breathe life on him, even now! Because nothing is impossible with HIM!  I am also at peace because I know either way, I will see Don again! The girls are at peace, because they know the hope that we have through our Lord Jesus death on the cross, that we will see him again! . And I pray that if you do not have that reassurance of seeing him again or of eternity with God at the place that Jesus is preparing for His beloved in John 14, then it is going to be the greatest gift for Don and our family, for you to accept Jesus' death on the cross for your sins as God's gift in John 3:16. It is a simple prayer of faith, accepting his gift of salvation, and making him not only your Savior but your Lord. This life is so short compared to the eternity that awaits us. It gives me so much comfort to think of that. We are transient passengers here! Our final destiny is with our Maker! Don made the final journey! He is now finally home! God gave us almost three extra years since he got very sick in Nov 2016 when he was supposed to die. God moved the supernatural  and he survived. God gave us 3 more precious years with him. I am stilll hoping for another miracle, and more years! Although, I can recount so many of those times since then too that God has given us so many miracles. Each day truly is a possibility of a miracle.  Expect it! I am also enclosing Don's picture before he got sick on his birthday on May 9, 2016, when he got his goal of 6 pack at 60. Chum chum! I know he got his 6-pack back now. And I am sure he is very happy with his glorified body now!
SO we thank you Lord! Thank you our dear prayer warrior friends and family. Know that your persevering prayers were not in vain. God has answered our every prayer. So lets continue to praise our Good God who never changes! He is the same yesterday, today and forever more! He is still faithful and we can still continue to Trust him. We continue to praise you , Lord, for you are still good, your mercy still endures forever for all of us! Don will always be with us, watching us now with our Lord above. It is still a wonderful life! Part of us is taken away by Don, Don is  really still with us in so many ways! Our God is still with us! That gives us a lot of strength. He is still true to His promises, that He will never leave us nor forsake us. His promise that his plan is not to harm us but to give us future and hope! Hallelujah! Love you guys! What a journey! And it is still not over for each of us! Let us make every minute count for the Kingdom until we see our Maker face to face, and as Don has heard this morning from HIS Maker, "Well done, good and faithful servant"!

The video below is Don's favorite song. "Even If" by MercyMe. Please listen to the words. It is ALL WELL WITH HIS SOUL...It is well with my soul!  It is well with all our girls' sou! We declare as well in 1 Corinthians 15:55, “O death, where is your victory?   O death, where is your sting?”  HALLELUJAH! TGBG! Don definitely lived his life glorifying his Lord! TGBG!

We love you guys! We will let you know details of funeral arrangement later! Shalom!
