Journal entry by Carolyn Colvin

This is Kris again. We are heartbroken to report that our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Donnie passed away with family by his side at 6:15 PM on Wednesday evening. I have included the obituary which will appear in Sunday's paper.

We wish to thank everyone who had kind thoughts, came to visit or said a prayer for us during this difficult time. We feel blessed to have had your support over the past year. Thank you in advance for your continued prayers for peace and comfort as we grieve our loss.

We are grateful for the time we were able to spend with Donnie. We will miss his pranks and jokes, his love and support, but we realize he is in our hearts and there is a brand new angel in heaven watching over us all. He was reunited with several family members and I am quite sure there was a heck of a party when he arrived.

As Don's earthly life came to a close, we were listening to spiritual music. We spoke softly and sang to him as he prepared to make the journey to everlasting life. One of Donnie's song requests for his funeral was "It's a Wonderful World". About five minutes after he passed, the song played randomly, and Donnie once again had the final word when he let us know that he made it to his destination and he was fine.

Details about the funeral are in the obituary. Due to COVID restrictions capacity will be limited during the visitation. Rest assured we want to see anyone who wants to and is able to pay their respects. Once we reach capacity we will allow individuals in as others leave.

Donald W Colvin
(Donnie) 72, of Minnetonka passed away on March 3rd, 2021 after a year long, hard
fought battle with Glioblastoma. Don was most proud to have served his country,
completing two tours in Vietnam in addition to service stateside and in Germany.
His greatest joy was his family and spending time with them. Don had the unique
ability to walk into a room and almost instantly make a friend or find a “healthy”
conversation, and he will be missed by many. He was an avid bowler, softball player
and coach and enjoyed hunting trips on the family land, “Circle C”, in Bemidji
Minnesota with his son, family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 48 years,
Carolyn, daughter Theresa Colvin, son and daughter in law Donnie and Michele
Colvin, grandsons, Mason and Brayden Colvin, sisters Kris (Rick) Stafford, Donna
(Mike) Helmquist , Lynne (Gary) Bruneau brothers Dale (Julie) Augustine, Brian
(Star) Augustine and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from
4-7 PM Thursday March 11 at Washburn McReavy, Eden Prairie Chapel. Funeral
service at Holy Family Catholic Church in St Louis Park at 9:30 AM Friday March
12th, Interment following at Fort Snelling.
