Don came home from UW hospital last week. The downside was that he had to have a catheter. Yuck! It is awful in so many ways, but he got it out yesterday so now we feel more “normal.”
Don is enjoying his house, the beautiful sunny days, his family and friends that visit, good food (lots of homemade bread, big dinners and a few McDonald’s burgers) -- and not having to be poked and prodded. And today he got his very first mani-pedicure! He loved it.
The pictures in this post are of our backyard and of Scott and Kyle helping Don up the steps after our Mother’s Day family brunch.
We have lots of lengthy Fred Hutch appointments but it sure beats being in the hospital. We have a meeting with his Fred Hutch oncologist next week to discuss the plan for the future. Both Don and I want it to be a plan of action and are hoping to continue chemo treatments to increase his odds. There is no cure, but the goal is for a good quality of life for as long as possible. And even though he is tired all the time and spends a lot of his day in bed he still has a life he enjoys and one that is worth fighting for.
I’m going to update the Care Calendar and hope some of you can help me with his Fred Hutch visits, and also coming here, so I can get out of the house. We also enjoy having company and would really appreciate getting to visit you at your house to expand our horizons.
