Diane’s Story

Site created on April 28, 2021

I cant tell you who my grandmother is to other people. I can only tell you that she is the first voice I remember from childhood and so beautiful everywhere we went people thought I was her child. She has been a force of kindness in my life, tainted for flavor with vanity and a laugh that was better than black magic.  Her arms never fail to provide a hug and she cries for others more often than she cries for herself.  I dont know if I could ever do her journey justice but here I hope to try.

Journal entry by Jay Downs

Sober, sleep deprived people rarely receive news with grace. Like most people in the elder millennial generation,  I am often one disaster away from financial ruin and barely keeping my nerves tied together with a rubber band. Add sleep deprivation,  well you have the grand meltdown of April 2021. I dont know much yet, only that there will be chemo and surgery and more chemo. I have a train to catch to Orlando. Say a prayer for her in the beginning of our dogwood winter.
