(Kristie) Just a quick check-in to report that Ding is still doing well and his numbers are looking good! He signed up for a clinical trial for drugs that are being tested for efficacy in keeping multiple myeloma in remission for longer. If he is selected, this could involve weekly trips to Iowa City for awhile, but Ding was eager to give it a go if it might help others facing this type of cancer in the future! (And if it works, it will help him, too!) More to come on that, as we learn more.
He's eager to get back to his usual busy and social life, but still cannot have visitors or be out in public just yet. We are hoping by the end of this month, he will get the signal that it's okay to start doing some more activities, likely still wearing a mask.
We know many are anxious to see him - we are too! Especially for Gina and Beth and their families, because they live so close and are so used to spending a lot of time with Papa & Nuna! As his protective kids, we'd like to ask friends and family to refrain from asking for visits at the house unless it's truly a quick masked hello. Like on the front porch. No sitting down. :)
We know it's hard for Dad to say no, so we're asking you to not even put him in the position of having to consider whether his health is worth it when there is just a little time to go. Thank you for continuing to send cards and texts and emails and messages here and on social media! They are so appreciated and Ding knows you care.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Ding's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
