Dick’s Story

Site created on October 27, 2023

Dick has been on thrice-weekly dialysis for almost 3 years. Although his health is declining, his mind is still sharp and he continues to be an encouragement to his family and friends as he is able. We know how much you all love him, as evidenced by the onslaught of texts, Facebook messages, and calls that you’re sending to Judy, Sara, David, and Rick. We wanted to let you know how deeply we appreciate and covet your prayers and encouragement. We’ve created this site as a central location to keep you all updated with the latest. Please leave a note to let us know you were here. And we’re happy to read any comments to Dick that you’d like us to pass along to him. We love you! ~The Lyon Family

Journal entry by Sara Beauchamp

(From Sara): Dad arrived at Cottage in the Meadow yesterday (Monday) just before noon. This hospice facility is so restful and beautiful. He has a large, private room (#103), with plenty of room for people to come and visit. There are also several comfortable common areas to sit and visit. Yesterday afternoon, he received many visitors…brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, pastors, and dear friends. He was able to recognize and speak to them, although he usually had to be woken up to do so.

But today…(from Judy): I am feeling that my sweet hubby is on the doorstep of Glory.  His condition has greatly declined since yesterday.  He is sleeping and unresponsive, but I think he knows I am here.  I have not been alone this morning.  My kids and family are here.  I am surrounded by love and support.  The Lord is near.  We are not afraid.

(From Sara): Visitors are welcome. Dad may not be able to talk to you, but the rest of us certainly can and will! Your love and prayers are such an encouragement to us.
