Journal entry by Kathlyn Bradford

We have had a week and half of healing.

We went to see surgery PA and oncologist -Wednesday.

PA took out 43 staples and said she will follow up every 3 months for an exam for 3 years. Then every 6 months for 2 years.  We will have another wound check in 4 weeks.

The oncologist gave us basic information on cancer. Mom will have to go for blood work and dr visit for weight and side effect check before chemo infusion. The infusion will take 6 hours. So chemo days will probably be around 8 hour days. She will get 3 different iV meds every 3 weeks x 6 treatments. Then one iV med every three weeks for a year. The worst irreversible side effect is neuropathy. He didn’t have much to offer with questions of chemo and her RA/arthritis pain already compounding sideeffects of bone pain and neuropathy.  I don’t think the dr was prepared for all my questions and I didn’t get all answered🤦🏼‍♀️

We have appt at MD Anderson this morning at 9am. We will get there opinion and processes and decide on where to start chemo.

They can start chemo on Monday at Willis knighton in Shreveport with lab at 815, see dr at 845, then chemo.
