Journal entry by Nancy Schmelzle —
Hello friends and family,
Yesterday we saw the surgeon for Bruce's post operative visit. He was very pleased with the recovery Bruce is making and he says his incisions are healing well! The enormous tumor they removed along with the kidney was indeed a type of cancer, he feels confident they got it all, good margins and no evidence of spreading. The only concern is there was a lot of fluid in the mass and some leaked out in the removal process, hopefully no free floating cancer cells but he will have a CT scan in 3 months to check things out and likely every 3 months for a couple years. He also gave him the go ahead and schedule his hernia surgery for sometime in June if that surgeon gives the ok!
Diane continues to do well, she's been going out and about and getting in car transfers and walking. She starts out-patient PT this week!
Still a long road ahead for both of them so let's continue to lift them up, prayers, visits, phone check ins, meals...anything and everything is welcome and appreciated!
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Diane's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
