Sunday, June 7, Diane was seen at the emergency room in Willmar. Diane was transferred to St. Cloud hospital, so an urgent MRI could be done and Diane could be treated by neurology and oncology in St. Cloud.   Unfortunately, the news was not what we were praying for. The MRI confirmed Diane's brain tumor has grown. Diane had a great palliative care team in St. Cloud. The nurses, providers, and Chaplain were nothing short of amazing. Phone conversations with the palliative care team made it clear they wanted nothing but the best quality of life for Diane. Their compassion was what Diane and the family needed. Information and communication, it is that simple. They explained, for the first time, exactly what is going on, what Diane's options are, and what to expect in the future. One of the care team members said, "If Diane was my mom, wife, or sister, I would demand a second opinion to ensure there are no regrets and piece of mind that everything possible has been done". As a result, Diane's case is being reviewed by Dr. Vasquez at Abbott Northwestern. Diane and Eric will have a phone conference with Dr. Vasquez on 6/15, to help guide the next step in care. If Dr. Vasquez feels he can help Diane, we are all in. If not, Eric and Diane have decided to pursue hospice care... for now. Thanks to my mom, the St. Cloud palliative care team, and Diane’s dear friend Angie Irvine, we have all been more educated on medical terminology like acute care, verses palliative care, verses hospice care. We realize hospice care will provide the education, emotional support, and medical support Diane and Eric so desperately need.

This brings me to my next thought... we all know Diane would be the first one to organize a benefit for absolutely anyone in need. To this point, we have not set up a financial page or organized a benefit for Diane.  Eric and Diane are in a position, until the next step in care is determined, Eric is paying privately for Diane's care at Bethesda.  Because Eric and Diane would never ask for anything, we are asking for them, if you feel you want to help Eric and Diane financially with her medical expenses, please contact Vicki Blue at Citizens Alliance Bank in Granite Falls and make a direct deposit to Eric and Diane's account.

Thanking you in advance for your love, support, and prayers. We need a miracle.
