Devin suffers from a severe chest deformity - pectus excavatum,   We have been seeing geneticists and orthopedists. since he was very young,  he under goes regular cat scans, heart echos and X-rays.  


Devin s heart and lungs are now being compressed and he requires surgery.  He will undergo a Nuss Procedure on 12/21/2020.   He will have a titanium bar or bars placed in his chest to push the sternum and ribs back out.  While minimally invasive, this procedure has lots of pain and requires 3 weeks of very limited activity and will need assistance  with all daily activities.  To help with pain management, the surgeon will perform a cryo ablation to “freeze out” the pain.  It will take effect over 12 -24 hours following surgery and will wear off over the next three months.  This will hopefully eliminate the need to opioids. 


Steph will be on leave from work to provide the day to day care for the first three weeks.  At that point the bar should be stabilized, but will be limited for several more months.

COVID Invades the Wood House

It’s been a rough 10 days or so.  DaNiel wasn’t feelinG well and tested positive for Covid.  He’s been home and battling A myriad of Covid symptoms  since Wed 01/13.   We isolated everyone to their own floor, stepped up the sanitizing and everyone masked up even when in the house. Unfortunately,  Devin and I have also tested positive for Covid.   Caden is negative.   Luckily Devin and I have milder symptoms than DaNiel, but wow is this a bugger of a virus.  And each of us have different symptoms. 

DaNiel is starting to feel better today and Devin and I no longer are running a fever.  I think we have turned the corner.  More days of rest and recovery for the coming weeks for us.  Will keep you all posted.
