Journal entry by Stephanie Sharrone

She went Wednesday and received IVIG to try to help her immune system.  This was an IV that ran for a few hours and required pre-meds of Tylenol and Benadryl to eliminate allergic reactions and because it is known to cause flu like symptoms afterwards.  She had to continue the Benadryl and Tylenol afterwards for 24 hours.  She does want everyone to know that she officially swallowed her 1st pill and didn't have to have the Benadryl crushed.  She is proud of herself for that.  We continue to monitor her mouth and lips for developing sores from the methotrexate received on Monday.  We expect a few sores but want to make sure that it doesn't get to the point that it did last time.  She took the leucovorin as directed and has been trying to stay extra hydrated to flush the methotrexate out of her system.  She is definitely extra tired after the IVIG but again they said that is common.... Tiredness, body aches, low grade fever, again flu like symptoms.  These should resolve within a couple of days of the infusion.  Please keep the prayers coming that side effects are very mild and limited particularly from the methotrexate.
