Denny’s Story

Site created on January 2, 2019

Many people all over the world know and love our dad, Denny.  In the early hours of 2 January 2019,  Denny had a seizure and was transferred unconscious to Huntington Hospital where they discovered a brain tumor (metastatic melanoma) and a pseudo aneurism of the carotid artery, (AKA a tear in the artery.)   Fast forward:  Denny had surgery on 7 January to remove the tumor.  After that, he had some complications and set backs, remaining in the hospital for a full month.  You can read all the journal entries to follow the time line.  He was in the rehabilitation unit at Huntington Hospital till 4 February.   Back at home, he worked hard at physical and occupational therapy and regained enough strength to undergo cyber knife radiation treatments and complete seven infusions of immunotherapy between April-August 2019, before experiencing negative side-effects and discontinuing treatment.  While having to discontinue treatment was discouraging, Denny has enjoyed two strong years since that last immunotherapy treatment :) Now, 30 months from the original discovery of disease, his journey continues with some recent developments on the tumor front.  Thanks for your love and friendship.    We appreciate your care and prayers.
