Dennis’s Story

Site created on April 12, 2019

Hello and welcome to the CaringBridge site for our Dad, Dennis Pilger. During the month of March, Dad was struggling with throbbing leg pain that was causing extreme discomfort and sleep deprivation. While Trent and I were both on Spring Break (end of March), Dad decided that he had to get checked out. It was after this appointment that due to low white blood cell counts, his Primary Doc referred him to Hematology. We were hoping for a manageable blood disease or other diagnosis, but on Thursday, April 4th, Dad was officially diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. He has a very rare type called AML; only 1 in every 100,000 people per year are diagnosed with AML. And here starts another fight for the Pilger family...and fight we will!

Journal entry by Troy Pilger

So hard to believe it’s already been a year since Dad joined Mom in heaven. Unfortunately I’ll never forget that last breath.

We miss and love you so much Dad.
