Great News!!  After making some very positive improvements over the weekend, Mary was discharged home this past Monday morning!  Thank the Lord!

It was a very joyous morning.  We all dressed in purple, even the pups, bought purple balloons and welcomed Mary home with BIG smiles and HAPPY hearts!  She was also able to see the newest grandson for the first time as well.  So exciting!

Mary will continue home physical therapy 2-3 times a week to improve her strength.  Most exciting is that she didn’t even have to go home with any oxygen at all!  That still just blows us all away!  She is resting comfortably in her recliner and getting caught up from all she missed this past month.  She also LOVES sleeping in her own bed!

We thank you all so much for your prayers, caring thoughts, messages, gifts, and meals supplied.  We have said this in previous posts, but it is a truly humbling experience to see how wonderful and kind people really are.  We pray that you stay well as the winter months slowly creep in.  Live a little more, hug a little longer, and laugh A LOT!

We would be remiss if we did not mention and thank the nursing/care team staff at Regions (South Floor 6 and 9) once again!  They were so compassionate to our family and most importantly, to our parents.  They never hesitated to speak the truth, but did it in such a beautiful and caring way.  Even though they were so busy, they always made time to call us for updates and encouraged us to call them whenever we needed.  We are forever grateful for their warm bedside manner when we could not be there ourselves.  We thank them for making the right medical decisions at the right time that helped improve our parents health.  God bless them each and every day and continue to give them strength through the exhaustion of endless hours and their own tears.

Caring bridge has been such an amazing resource for us a family to inform you on Dennis and Mary’s progress.  It also provided a way for all of us to support each other while we overcame so many obstacles of sadness and worry during this time.  I absolutely believe in the power of prayer; it is clear that Mary has a lot more memories to make!

Since Mary and Dennis are back home and able to take calls and messages, this will be the last post on Caring bridge.  Please feel free to reach out to them when you feel the time is right.

The bible verse to sum up the past month is short and sweet, yet very meaningful:
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” ~ 2 Corinthians 9:15

Love,
The Thul Family
