His hand was in that same god awful position today when we went in for our visit. 
We really must speed up the process of getting him moved away from this place-- it can't be good for him to be surrounded with such eccentric personalities. Unbalanced, some even might say. 
Maybe some parents support this kind of behavior from their children and their administrators, but I must say that I do not.
