Denise Toney

June 16, 1965 – December 4, 2018

Denise Toney of Hazel Green, AL passed away Dec. 4th after suffering a brain aneurysm rupture and subsequent stroke in Atlanta over the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Denise was born in Greenville, SC and moved to the Atlanta, GA area as a teenager where she met and married her husband, Dennis Toney.  Denise relocated to Huntsville, AL in 1985 and was a loving devoted wife of 33 years.  Denise was a day care teacher prior to becoming the awesome dedicated Mom of Aubrey Lee Toney II for 22 years.  For almost two years she helped take care of one of her best friends, Denise Jordan, who just passed away in November from cancer.  Our Denise was busy working on Aubrey’s college graduation announcements, planning his graduation party, and assisting her mother-in-law with a kitchen floor renovation project.  In our opinion, her mission here on earth was not near complete.  Her plate was overflowing but she was driven and happy.  Although we struggle and have questions with timing, we accept the fact that God has bigger plans for her now.  She was predeceased by her father, Donald Gustin.  She is survived by her husband, Dennis Toney, son Aubrey Lee Toney II and beloved chihuahua Lucita of Hazel Green, AL; mother Jane Gustin and brother Don Gustin Jr. (Pam) of Greenville, SC; sister Raye Frye (Woody) of Lexington, SC; sister Sheryl Kelly (Doug) of Angola, IN and several nephews and nieces.  Memorial service will be Dec. 13th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Rd, Madison, AL.  Visitation 11 am to 1 pm, Mass at 1 pm.  The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Emory University Hospital.  If you so choose, please bring a couple of special printed photos of Denise that you would like to share.  In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to http://semperfictf.org/donate (Please designate to the Semper Fi Community Racing Team).
