Updates.....
I had my first physical therapy appointment on Monday, April 8. I was very pleased to hear the full feeling and tingling in my right arm is due to remaining surgery swelling and not lymphodema. The at home exercises she gave me to do are reasonable. My range of motion is still not great, but it is getting a little bit better. I am being very careful not to push things too far. I will receive a compression sleeve and glove next week. She said some people wear them a lot, others only when the lymphodema kicks up. Hopefully I will be a good patient.
On Thursday I began my next treatment steps with the plastic surgeon. I won't go into too much detail here because I don't want to overshare and make anyone feel uncomfortable. These treatments will be bi-weekly or weekly for approximately 2 months. It will just depend on how things go. Fortunately, I seem to be healing well.
Now that I am feeling better, I am starting to do small social activities with my friends again. Shopping, a small concert and eating out have been on my social calendar this week. The weather is going to be perfect 70's this weekend. I am hoping to get in some small outdoor walks around my neighborhood.
As always, you my dear friends are just absolutely amazing. When I hear from people that they read this website, it brightens my whole day to know that I am getting that support. Every single day, I realize how much family and friends make a difference in quality of life. I feel goosebumps when I have a special moment every time someone does a random check in that comes at the exact time I was feeling a little down. My best life has always been simple. I want to do a good job at work, be financially stable, go to the gym, listen to music with a message, and spend quality time with my friends. I am not at the gym these days, but that will happen again.
Oh, another funny..... Now I am at the age where if I need a medical device (shower chair, blood pressure cuff, etc.) I can just check in with my friends and someone already owns it and I am allowed to borrow it. What? I thought we were still young and crazy fun??????? No exchanging cute dresses or outfits now. Now it is swapping medical equipment! LOL
Love you all so much. Every day is a gift. We are moving forward on this health journey!
