Dena Dawn (Dinsmore) Gabor, 45

Dena Dawn (Dinsmore) Gabor, 45, of Burlington, passed away on December 13, 2018 in Seattle after complications from a battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born November 26, 1973 in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of David and Deanna Dinsmore.

Dena moved to Washington with her family at the age of eleven where she attended Allen Elementary School, graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1992 and graduated from Skagit Valley College in 1994.

Upon graduation from college, Dena worked as a legal secretary for several years.  Once her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mother.  When her children reached school-age, she began working for the Burlington-Edison School District as an Instructional Assistant where she continued to work up until the time of her illness.  Working with children became her passion.

Dena was a loving and dedicated mother who always put her children first and foremost.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.  Vacations to the beach at Seaside, OR and Disneyland were among her favorite travel destinations.  She loved Christmas time and family gatherings.  She enjoyed time adventuring outdoors and boating with her children and family.

Dena is survived by her two children, Brandon and Ashley Gabor of Burlington; her mother and father, David and Deanna Dinsmore of Burlington; and her brother, David Dinsmore, Jr. and wife Tina of Winthrop, WA.  She is also survived by her partner, Randy Chin of Burlington.

Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Harry and Joan Dinsmore of Punxsutawney, PA; Delbert and Vada Riffee of Red House, WV; and Bernard and Elsie Morton of Nitro, WV.

The family generously donated Dena’s corneas to SightLife providing sight to those in need.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melodic Caring Project at melodiccaring.org/donate.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Skagit Golf and Country Club in Burlington.
