When people run into us, they are surprised and cannot tell we just gave and received a kidney.  We are two and a half weeks post transplant and are both doing great.  Neither Delaney nor I have any pain to speak of and are becoming quite active while still following the normal post surgical limits...no lifting for 6 weeks and no exercise except walking.  We are walking daily and are up to a mile and sometimes a little more.  Delaney's numbers are exactly where they need to be and so are mine and the post kidney lab work indicates that the match was a really good one.  Both of our doctors couldn't be happier.

Delaney missed the last three weeks of her last semester at GA Tech, but has an extension to complete the work by the end of this coming semester.  She is determined to do it before she starts the coming semester and has started studying and working on assignments.  I have been back a work for a week and a half, part from home and part in the office.  Everyday we feel more and more like ourselves.

I can't thank everyone enough for the prayers, good thoughts, cards, meals, and flowers.  We are beyond thankful for you all and so thankful for the doctors and hospital staff that took such good care of us.  I don't know if it was every said before but we were in two separate hospitals...CHOA took care of Delaney and I was at the Emory hospital.  Delaney's nephrologist, Dr. Rouba Garro, has been with us from the beginning of Delaney's diagnosis and I have no words that will do justice to the how wonderful she is or how thankful I am for her.

Lastly, I am so thankful for Rob and Sydney.  They had some stressful days and had to manage the logistics of their family being in two locations.  They stayed by Delaney and my side from beginning to end.  All told Delaney was in the hospital for 8 days and I was in for 3 days.

If anyone has any questions about the transplant process or has thought about donating a kidney.  I would be happy to talk to you.  I am so grateful that I could give the gift of life and the effect for me was just two weeks of discomfort.  I have no limitations and will continue to have a completely normal life with one kidney and the transplant process has saved two people in my life.

I hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Love,
Selina
