Nanny had another appointment with the doctors on May 7th. Though her white blood cell count was quite low, she has been in a recovery week and taking less toxic cancer meds, resulting in a little more energy and less nausea. Brain scan showed that her brain is free of cancer cells! Lungs are relatively clear as well, and no longer filled with fluid.

Next time at MD Anderson, they will to a CAT scan to check her torso area and assess how effective the treatment has been. They will check the lesions on bones and tumors in liver to see if they have in fact shrunk. Then we will discuss how to move forward. At this point in time, we are unsure if these extremely toxic meds are a viable long-term solution as they have been very hard on her body.

Nanny and Elaine plan to check in with support services in the coming weeks. They have been trying to spend more time outside in the sun, when Nanny is feeling up for it! Nanny went for a lovely walk with her sons and grandsons who were in town visiting last week. Nanny got to visit with Keith who flew to Austin from Colorado, Kevin, Kelly, Brenan, and Taylor who arrived from Louisiana, and granddaughter Daillen in from California. This weekend, her son Gary will join her in Austin from Colorado. As always we are so grateful to Terry, Elaine, and their kids for taking such wonderful care of her during her treatment in Texas! Flowers pictured below were a wonderful Mother's Day gift from nieces Cheryl and Robin. Also check out Nanny's new zero gravity lounge chair!
