Journal entry by Doug White —
Since bad news seems to be the order of the day for my posts, I'd like to change the script and share some good news. Dee Dee is still MRD negative which is the gold standard for remissions. All of her blood counts are in the normal range and she seems to be improving monthly. She's continuing her physical therapy and is getting stronger. Strong enough to start her maintenance chemo therapy last week. It's a week of daily infusions and oral chemo, one week on and five weeks off for a year. It may knock her down a bit, but a necessary step. We're grateful she's been able to reach this stage in her recovery. Also we are grateful for our doctors, nurses, social workers and case managers. Although often overworked and overwhelmed we seem to be their only patient when with us. All are top notch and a great team. Additionally our family and friends are an invaluable support. Without this support/cheerleading, our journey would have been unbearable. We look to the future with hope. Thank you all!
