Journal entry by warren shannon

Beloved,

Deb has had a full week.  She has been taking prednisone for a few weeks now to help control the diarrhea.  She took her last dose on Wednesday morning and then spent the day with our grandson Jacob.  This time they took a ferry boat ride from San Francisco to Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay.  The day went well and there were no problems.

Thursday morning bright and early she had a PET scan, and we posted a note Thursday night relaying what we had heard from the oncologist's office.

Friday we went to Sacramento to begin immuno Round 3.  We got a copy of the scan report and, to be fair, this thing is full of numbers, values, and observations.  It takes some serious time and focus to take it all in, and so initially the results were a bit overstated.  The bottom line is that all of the tumors are less active, and all but one (a really inactive one) are reduced in size.  The tumor on the kidney went down by about 31% (roughly a third smaller), and the one in the sacral vertebrae went down 9%.

This is, of course, very encouraging for Deb.  All of the side effect difficulties have been worth it.  We found a donut shop on the way home to celebrate.

She has  decided now to see if she can get along without the  prednisone.  Her last dose was Wednesday and yes, it's no fun, the attacks are really sudden,  but she's been getting by.

So if you are led, pray that she can get by without prednisone.  This will yield the full benefit of the immuno.  Pray as well that there is no damage to the intestines, and of course, whatever else the Lord brings to mind and spirit.

Thank you all so much, our love to you all.

Blessings,
