Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Debbie had not been feeling well since January, she had lost a significant amount of weight and was dealing with a large amount of stress which is what doctors were thinking was the cause of the ill feelings and the weight loss.  She fell and broke a rib bringing her to the Red Wing Hospital on June 2nd . She was not sick enough for them to keep her but wanted her to go to a transitional care facility to heal and gain strength. She then went to Bayview in Red Wing For about a week and that is where the serious illnesses began. She was vomiting and having stomach issues. We felt she needed more care so suggested she go back to the hospital because she was getting weaker.  Back to the Red Wing Hospital she went. There they saw that In that week her kidneys had been severely injured due to dehydration and needed to heal them. She spent several days there until they felt that she needed the care that Mayo could give her and they couldn’t. At that point she was still coherent and my sister, aunt and myself were still talking to her and FaceTiming daily since we could not visit due to Covid. On Friday June 12  they tried to do dialysis because her kidneys still weren’t functioning as they should, which a doctor told me that kidney injuries are very slow to heal and repair so that isn’t abnormal. At that time her heart started malfunctioning and speeding up as blood pressure was dropping low. That was what brought her into the ICU and in critical condition. She is showing signs of a possible stroke but the MRI did not show any blood clots making that just a possibility. She is very confused and they are unsure of why but drained a lot of fluid from her abdomen and thinking that getting rid of toxins may bring her brain back to full functioning. At the moment there is a kidney team, neurological team, and gastrointestinal team, all working on her to try to make her well. I will post on here whenever I learn anything new and thank you all for praying for her.
