Debra’s Story

Site created on September 7, 2010

By now you know the unthinkable - Deb suffered a 'moderate' stroke over Labor Day weekend.  We've felt disbelief, shock and anger, as well as intense sadness, grief and pain.  We've also felt luck, warmth and grattitude for the outpouring of love and support we've experienced from our wonderful family and incredible friends.  And with great medical care and Deb's fighting spirit, we now feel the hope that soon we will again enjoy the wonderful Deb that we all love and admire.  We'll try to use this site to keep you updated, and us connected, during this trying time.  Thanks for your support.  Love,  Steve, Danny, Adam and Sarah

Newest Update

Journal entry by Steve Zuckerman

Hello again friends and family,

It's been a long time since we’ve added to our journal – the journey is far from over, but we have settled into our “new normal”.  Deb continues to work as hard as ever, and while you’re used to this refrain we’ll say it again – progress continues to be forward, but of course not fast enough!

Not going to take time for a detailed update here – just want to let you know that we’ve helped the Peninsula Stroke Association (PSA) create a fundraising and riding team as part of a biking event called the Palo Alto Gran Fondo.  Won’t fill space with all the relevent information – you can get it all by clicking through to:

In a nutshell, you can support this great organization doing great work by making a donation on our page -- or if you’re a rider who's local to the Bay Area or feel like travelling, click back from our page to the PSA page and register to ride!  We’d love to see you. out there.

That’s it for now.  We hope this finds all of you well and enjoying the tail end of summer.  Thanks for caring!  Love,

Deb and Steve
