Debbie’s Story

Site created on February 1, 2018

I'm Tara, Debbie's daughter.   I created this page to keep everyone up to date on what's happening.  Debbie has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.  At this point it is not in her lungs, but her last scan showed something on her gallbladder.  The plan of action was to do immune therapy and radiation to shrink her lymph nodes.   She decided to put a hold on starting treatment while she gets a second opinion.  Her records have been sent and she has appointments this Thursday and Friday at Mayo.  Once I have an update and with Debbie's ok I will post it here.  I'll be honest Debbie is not one for having people fuss over her, and it took a lot of convincing her to let me do this.  I just figured with our large family and network of friends this would be an easy way to keep everyone in the know.

Kenny, dad and I've made as many phone calls as I can today.  I am writing to let everyone know that today at approximately 12:37pm my mom passed away.  This last week has been extremely tough for her.  I have nothing clever or witty to say.  Just that she's no longer in pain.
