Deb’s Story

Site created on April 15, 2021

Many of you know Deb hasn’t been feeling great for the past few months. Cough, weakness, shortness of breath and back pain have been what she has been dealing with. After many trips to multiple doctors, they have found that her breast cancer has reoccured and has spread to her lungs, brain and throughout her bones. She will start 2 weeks of radiation on Monday 4/19 and has started chemo treatment in pill form. We are still waiting on results of a couple biopsies to determine further or additional treatment.

We appreciate all the prayers, flowers, meals and support from family and friends. We thank God we now have answers and ask for continued prayers as she starts treatment. We are positive and hopeful that God will give healing to Deb and side effects will be minimal.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

Newest Update

Journal entry by Craig Benson

Dear friends and family,

Thought I should send you all one more update.    It has been a challenging 2 months since Deb's heavenly home-going!  We are missing Deb very much!!!!!   But by the grace and power of God each day we continue to heal and grow!  And thank you so much for your continued prayers and support to my family and me!

The past 2 months have been busy:   Shortly after Deb's passing I felt it best to resign my pastor position at Grace Lutheran Church in Morris, IL in order to take some needed time for myself and to move closer to my family in Minnesota and Iowa.  It was not easy to leave such a loving and caring congregation!  But I am thanking God for three wonderful years of ministry and lifelong friendships developed!

Additionally I have been visiting and helping care for my father Sherman and stepmother Joyce in Northfield, Minnesota at Three Link Care Center.  Dad's health has been declining the past 2 years and especially the past few months.  We experienced God's sovereign will and timing as dad passed away last Wed, August 4th.  The Celebration of Life service will be this Friday in Faribault, Minnesota.  I thank God for giving me such a loving and caring father and mentor!  And I request your prayers for Joyce during this time!

And so I am making my home now at my parent's house, 2 miles south of Kenyon, Minnesota.  My mailing address is PO Box 4, Kenyon, MN 55946.  Busy caring for and being with my family and getting settled in back at the farm.  And looking forward to some restful days ahead!  Still trusting God as He provides for all of my needs!  I see His hand and Spirit at work in so many ways each day!   And thanking God for each of you!
