Deborah’s Story

Site created on January 26, 2019

So I’ve been cruising through life feeling blessed to be living an amazing life: traveling to new, fun, and interesting places while doing a job that I love, helping people. Out of nowhere the road took a sharp turn onto a not so pleasant road. Although this road may be a little tougher, I have no doubt that I will get through it. I know that this path is necessary for the growth that I am experiencing in my life.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

On January 8th, I was diagnosed with a form of breast cancer called Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It is in the early stage and has not spread into my lymph nodes, which is positive. This cancer is what they call triple negative and is a more aggressive type and a little tougher to treat. I am getting my treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, and I feel very confident I am getting the best care available. I am feeling overwhelmed with love and support from so many people. It is an amazing feeling to know how many people love and are ready to support me. I am too blessed to be down about this. No worries, just prayers please. I got this!

So I’m back from Houston and happy to say that the cancer responded well to the Chemo and the mass is gone!! God is good.. Next is my double mastectomy surgery along with reconstruction surgery at the same time using my own tissue. That will be about a 10 hour surgery! Glad I’m having it done closer to home in Frisco rather than Houston. This is the hardest part of the journey but I’m still feeling positive and I know that God has me and is carrying me through this. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes friends and family. ❤️
