Mom saw her oncologist today. Oncotype test results came back with a low score of eight. This test determines the percentage of cancer reoccurrence. Mom will NOT need radiation or chemo! We’ve been praying so hard to receive some good news…feel like it’s been a couple of months since we’ve been able to breathe easy. Finally, good news. God is so good.
Mom will have to take Letrozole (estrogen blocker) for the next five to 10 years. This will reduce the risk of reoccurrence to three percent in the next 10 years.
Now that we have answers, Mom can continue to rest/recover from the mastectomy and concentrate on preparing for breast reconstruction, which will hopefully be completed by the end of the year. The doctors will continue to monitor mom for several years.
Our family is feeling incredibly blessed today. We couldn’t have gotten to this point without all of the love and support from our amazing family and friends. We love you all!
