Deb’s Story

Site created on December 27, 2022

As many of you know, in late August 2022, my sister, Deb Gerads, was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Since her diagnosis, she has completed a 12-week cycle of weekly chemo treatments. She has now begun her 2nd, 12-week cycle of a different "chemo cocktail". This was all part of her original treatment schedule. Unfortunately, there are days when she just doesn't feel up to texting or chatting. I figured this would be a good place for all of us to "gather" and show our support and receive updates on her progress. We all know what a warrior this woman is! Let's keep up the good thoughts and prayers and finish this battle strong and kick cancer's ass!

Journal entry by Deb Gerads

✅ 6 months of chemotherapy
✅ bi-lateral mastectomy
✅ 25 radiation sessions
✅ 6/30 MRI
✅ 7/3 PET Scan
✅ 7/6 Follow up appointment with my Oncologist

I am happy to report that my Oncologist told me yesterday that I am in COMPLETE REMISSION!!!!!  Needless to say I’m so happy with the results of my treatment. It’s been a long 11 months.

My next steps include 2-3 months of letting my mental and physical health heal. After that, I will begin a 2 year chemo pill therapy. While this is not required, but highly recommended, it’s something I want to do to keep this monster away.

I would not be here today without my family, support squad and all of your thoughts and prayers.

A couple of photos attached. So many of my supporters showing up for my final treatment and ringing the bell.
