Deb’s Story

Site created on August 13, 2011

In August of 2002, I was diagnosed with a rare form of vaginal cancer (villo glandular adenocarcinoma).  After extensive radiation and chemotherapy, the cancer was still present which required a major surgery to remove the cancer.  I have been cancer-free for 8 1/2 years!!!

However, now the effects of the radiation have made it necessary for me to be referred to a medical team of professionals at Mayo Clinic in hopes they can come up with a plan for either reconstruction or whatever to fix the the problem(s) I have been experiencing.

Please pray for God's guidance with this professionals that they may find the best possible solutions.

Journal entry by Deb Davelaar

It feels GRRRREAT!!

This is the Day That The Lord Has Made, Let Us REJOICE and Be Glad In It🙏

As I type this journal entry, a mixture of emotions pour over me.  When a person goes through cancer, it is a rollercoaster of emotions. Today as I am celebrating 20 YEARS CANCER FREE!!, I am surprised how some of the same rollercoaster of emotions have returned.
Lots of memories.  The Good, the Bad and the Ugly but here I am Celebrating!

It has been a journey of diagnosis, chemo, internal and external radiation, hospitalization, 3 major surgeries and several minor, hyperbaric oxygen, pain, healing, ureter stent replacements, obstructed bowels, hernias, and more.  However, the cancer was removed on February 27, 2003.  20 Years Ago!

I want to reflect on the wonderful support I have had from all of you.  Your prayers were answered.  I felt those prayers through many of my setbacks and outcomes.  Thank you!

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed - truly is an understatement today and always.

May God Bless Each and Every One of You!

Love Ya Bunches,
Deb
