Journal entry by Steve Enlow —
Good Morning Everyone,
Well, today starts a final 6 month journey with Debby on a maintenance Chemo Pill ( Xeloda) It's basic purpose will be to ensure no cancer cells escaped to wander around the rest of her body. It has been shown to greatly reduce any recurrences so it will definitely be worth it. However, if you have time, here is a site that lets you know all the "lovely" NOT, side effects that she can look forward to:😡

We are hoping that she does not get ANY at all, or at least if she does, they will be mild. The hardest side effect she may face is that she can experience severe pain in her hands and feet, so much so that she cannot walk, or even hold a pen or a fork. UGH. As Debby said to me this morning, I just want to be DONE with all of this!!!!! I am tired and do not want to do this anymore!
For those of you that are not aware of this regiment, she will be taking 4-500mg pills a day (2 in am and 2 in pm) for 6 months. The process is 2 weeks taking the pill, 1 week off to do blood work, yea! we get to visit the vampire again 😕 , and Oncology visits to check her blood work, side effects, progress etc.
I know I mentioned this before, but ladies, please get your annual mammograms scheduled today, if you do not already have them set!. Thank you.
Another Journey starts
Well my love here we go again
Meds and blood work you begin
oh how fun we get to wait and see
what side effects will it be?
we are hoping for none at all
but we must be ready and do not fall
I hate that you must go through all this
but I am here to make you feel bliss
You are one of the strongest woman I know
Through this journey I know you will glow
I am here, I am here, I'm going nowhere
You can count on me to always be there
I know you want this crap to end
This is just a bump in life and the finish line is just around the bend
I really wish this journey never had to be
But you know this sure has made us stronger... you and me!
I really appreciate you more and more each day
As this cancer has seen, you are here to slay
Debby my love, my baby doll
I stand here looking at you, and I am Just in AWE!
You got this, you're strong and Smart
Just another journey we hate to start!
Thank you all family, friends and loved ones. I will keep you updated as much as I can, and we all know Deb will continue to KICK CANCERS A$$!!!
I truly appreciate you all,
Steve
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Debby's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
