Journal entry by Kellie Lange

It’s been a long time since this page has been updated.

On Saturday, September 12, 2020, Debbi’s tribe put together a silent auction/raffle benefit to raise money for Debbi and her family for medical and living expenses. The turnout was overwhelming and wonderful. *Thank you to everyone who helped put this benefit together. Thank you to everyone who donated. Thank you to everyone to attended. You are all beyond appreciated.

The following months were a rollercoaster. Debbi spent as much time as she could with her family and friends.

Eventually, the chemo Debbi originally started, failed to keep the cancer from growing and spreading. The doctors gave her the option to try a new chemotherapy. Debbi tried it, but every session sent her to the ER with a high fever and back/hip pain. Eventually, that chemo stopped working too.

The week of February 14th, 2021, hospice was called to Debbi’s home. They gave her 3-6 weeks. Hospice set up a bed for her. She’s able to see all the busy birds, turkeys, deer, and naughty squirrels that come to the front feeders. Hospice is trying to help with pain management.

At this time, Debbi has a hard time getting around/moving without help. She doesn’t eat very much. Debbi is in a lot of pain. She sleeps a lot. It’s hard to understand her and she gets confused easily.

What Debbi needs more than anything right now, is to not feel so alone. Even though she’s not up for visitors- send cards, letters with funny/your favorite memories, flowers, anything to help brighten her day.
