Debbie’s Story

Site created on May 8, 2021

On May 6th, My mom had a sudden onset, severe headache associated with vomiting and she collapsed in the bathroom of walmart. There was a young lady in there to help her and she called my Dad. My Dad then took her to the ED and they found out she had a fairly large Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (brain bleed) from a ruptured aneurysm. She was transferred to the University of Minnesota and admitted to the Neuro ICO. Overnight they placed several lines, a ventriculostomy to monitor her brain pressures and performed cerebral angiography. Yesterday morning she underwent coiling of the aneurysm and procedurally all went well. She has been very sleepy since. But seems to be doing well overall. They expect a 2+week stay in the Neuro ICU to monitor her closely.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Katie Morse

This will be the final update on my mom because she is doing remarkably well from her brain aneurysm. No headaches since June 17th and her leg spasms have been gone for weeks.  She is done with her 10 medications, except for one and she is walking every morning and sometimes in the evening for 30-45 minutes! She has PT twice a week till the end of July to strengthen her lower back and legs and also does the exercises at home and that is helping her immensely. She can also visit with family and friends in person for longer than two hours now. Our family thanks all of you who prayed for our mom and sent her get well cards! She loved all of them and they really encouraged her...--
