Journal

I haven't updated in a while due to Debbie's request for privacy, but we have been receiving many messages(because Debbie is so loved by all) inquiring how she is.

Debbie is currently at a Hospice House.  As you know, she was only give 3 months to live, from her prognosis of Leptomeningeal (in basic terms- Cancer in the Spinal Fluid).  As her health has deteriorated she has made the decision and request for privacy.  This includes only seeing and communicating with immediate family and close friends.  That is just what we have been doing.  We have a rotating schedule of family and close friends visiting her to keep her company.   At this point, Debbie is now unable to answer phone calls, receive text messages and take any additional visitors.

Just know that she is receiving the best care as and is resting comfortably (pain free).  She still remains one of the kindest, most loving, strongest people that I know.  And we love her dearly.

On a positive note: Debbie was wanting to be able to meet her new Granddaughter Isla before she was born.  That is the beauty of grief (the loss of Andy) and my special relationship with Debbie.  Isla is just as much of a grandchild to her as the rest of the grandchildren.   Debbie is an outstanding Mom but she takes the role of Grandma to another level.

I promised Debbie that she would be the first Grandma to hold baby Isla.  Isla Kate was born on June 2nd.  On the way home from the hospital we stopped to see Grandma Debbie and fulfilled that promise.  It was a beautiful, therapeutic moment as baby Isla melted into her Grandma's arms.  I am so happy to have this moment. And like all of her grandchildren Isla will grow up knowing and loving Grandma Debbie.

Thank you for all of your outpouring of love.  Please continue prayers that Debbie has peace as she reaches the end of her earthly journey and begins her heavenly one.

Love to all - Debbie's Warriors!
