Journal entry by Debbie Medlin —
So after another long bout with diarrhea, I've called and made me an appointment with my PCP. She has run all sorts of tests and now wants me to have a CT Scan to rule out other stuff. I went to Duke Regional and had the scan done on a Wednesday. She called me that evening and said the scan shows a large mass in my pelvic area and several other masses, she suspects ovarian cancer. My CA125 is 1521 (normal is 35 and under). I'll have a MRI done next Wednesday and she's already scheduled me to meet with an gyn/oncologist/surgeon on the following Thursday.
Had the MRI and it looks like the masses have already increased in size.... Met with Dr. Brittany Davidson and she is almost 9 months pregnant. She wants to do the surgery the next Friday, her last day at work. We agree to the surgery. I have to have a Covid test the Wednesday before, it's got me more nervous than the big surgery... just knowing they are going to stick that Q-tip up my nose! Covid test was a drive-thru in one of the Duke parking lots. Test came back negative, I'm all set for surgery.
